A recent report in the EGRmagazine.com suggests that the bill to allow intrastate online poker is not going to be approved by the Senate soon. Although Morongo Tribe and some card clubs have joined the forced for pushing the bill in a financially desperate state, it does not appear that the bill will get approved in the California Senate.
Although a lot of good will has already been built up before the Senate, it is difficult to gain its due attention before September 11, 2009 when the Senate is coming to a close. Senator Darrel Steinberg is said to believe that time is not enough to do justice to the bill.
It will take at least 4 weeks for analysis of the proposal and its potential economic advantages. One big factor that is pushing tribes to line up against Morongo group is the shift of the bill from exclusive gambling deal with the state through which the tribes have been enabled to run the land based gaming ventures in California.
