The coverage of this year’s World Series of Poker on ESPN has dramatically changed. ESPN had decided to give more attention to the more Main Event times and the special events made for TV such as $40,000 WSOP Anniversary tournament and the Ante Up for Africa, rather than on multiple preliminary events final tables.
As the World Series of Poker was approaching, a lot of chatter was going on about how ESPN is going to cover the series this year. People and experts were also confused about whether the shift from small final tables will be favorable or not. This was because smaller tables lacked the star power which did not appeal much of the audiences who were more interested in watching celebrity poker players to demonstrate their skills.
This year, ESPN has also allowed more than 440 productions to do their best to tell great stories over the television. So, with all these additions and changes, this year’s tournament will be a much see for all.
A recent report in the EGRmagazine.com suggests that the bill to allow intrastate online poker is not going to be approved by the Senate soon. Although Morongo Tribe and some card clubs have joined the forced for pushing the bill in a financially desperate state, it does not appear that the bill will get approved in the California Senate.
Although a lot of good will has already been built up before the Senate, it is difficult to gain its due attention before September 11, 2009 when the Senate is coming to a close. Senator Darrel Steinberg is said to believe that time is not enough to do justice to the bill.
It will take at least 4 weeks for analysis of the proposal and its potential economic advantages. One big factor that is pushing tribes to line up against Morongo group is the shift of the bill from exclusive gambling deal with the state through which the tribes have been enabled to run the land based gaming ventures in California.
